This past Saturday Bettina + Allan were married in downtown Vancouver on what turned out to be a beautiful summer day. Bettina had come to us by way of referral from Jeanette + Cassian whom we filmed last October. You can see the same-day-edit that we created for them by clicking here.

Fast-forward nearly a year and we found ourselves at Bettina + Allan’s wedding. When we arrived at the girls’ place the day was already in full swing so our team began shooting there while I headed downtown to see what Allan and the guys were up to. Little did I know that they’d be nearly ready themselves, and all set to practice their co-ordinated bridal party dance that they were scheduled to perform later in the evening.

Let’s get it out of the way right now, this was a fun bunch!

After they did a few takes and felt comfortable with their routine, it was off to the church for the ceremony and then the photoshoot downtown. The reception was just popping with colour and Bettina definitely helped put her stamp on the décor. And just to make sure the rehearsals were worth it, true to form the groomsmen and bridesmaids did a great job performing their routines after a few minutes of the first dance. I think the whole thing caught the crowd off-guard and they were loving every minute of it!

Bettina + Allan added one of our same-day-edits at the last minute and I’m so glad they did! Below is what we created for them on the day of their wedding and projected to them and their guests later the same evening. Enjoy!

~ Bruce

I first met Helen + Neil at the Creme de la Creme wedding show in Vancouver this past November. From the moment we first chatted I knew their wedding would be a fun one to film – all 3 of us really just clicked from the beginning. Every time I saw Neil he was smiling from ear to ear, and was so happy and accommodating to us during the lead up to his wedding. I wondered how his smile would hold up during a long wedding day full of smiling but Neil held true and the grin never faded! When we left at the end of the night, I said to Neil that I couldn’t believe how time had flown since I’d first met them and he agreed – “and now we’re here tonight, and it’s amazing!”. I’m honoured that they had us there to film their wedding for them and moments like that remind me just how important it is what we do for our clients.

Here’s the Same-Day-Edit that we created for them on the day of their wedding and showed to their guests at their reception.

You can’t really go wrong when you have a professional ballerina as your model at a photoshoot. A few months ago as part of the regular filming of all the editorial photoshoots for our magazine WedLuxe, we had the pleasure of filming Heather Ogden who is the principal ballerina for the National Ballet of Canada. The first thing I wanted to know was, how do you stand on your toes for so long? Turns out the toe is reinforced (who knew) but the feat is still an amazing one. Heather was a pleasure to work with and the result was a stunning photo spread in our current issue. You can see the photos from the photoshoot on the WedLuxe website here. For now though, here’s a little video clip of the shoot.

Many of you know that at this time of year we’re immersed in filming weddings nearly every weekend. What some people may not know is that we also do work for corporate clients year-round.

A while ago we met Kai Heinonen who was (coincidentally enough) attending the wedding of Melissa + Kevin in Cuba. Kai trains elite hockey players and prepares them for the NHL draft each year. He approached us a few months after we saw him at the wedding to do promotional videos for his training business and also to create individual clips which were meant to showcase the drive and passion of each of his star-prospects. These players will be showing the clips we’ve created for them to NHL scouts at team training camps in the fall in order to further impress them and hopefully get a contract with an NHL team.

The first clip we have ready profiles Tyler McNeely who should have no problem landing himself a job after demonstrating how hard he trains!

Well it’s a sunny morning in Toronto as I write this post after another 2 Cloud Nine films were created last night, 1 in Vancouver and 1 in Toronto. I have some time before my flight tonight so I thought it would be a great time to post another one of our WedLuxe Magazine behind-the-scenes photoshoot films. This clip was shot in Toronto a few months ago as we were shooting for the latest issue of our magazine which is now on newsstands across Canada. I’ll be posting another WedLuxe BTS clip tomorrow and also a high-energy clip that we’re just finishing for some NHL prospect players. So stay tuned this week for more content and clips on the blog!

In the meantime, here’s the Garden of Eden Behind-the-Scenes clip we put together:

Christine + Howard were blessed with one of our typical sunny and temperate Vancouver days for their wedding in Vancouver this past weekend. From the floral and décor throughout the day to the the bridal party themselves – everything was colourful and all the details were spot on!

Often times we try to meet with clients and really get to know them in our initial consultation meetings, but there is usually so much information to learn that it’s not always possible to get all the details about “their” full story until we film them on their wedding day. Christine + Howard, on the other hand had a lunch reception after they got married where there were a number of really insightful speeches about the couple. This allowed us to get to know them earlier in the day while filming which helped to include more depth into their same-day-edit.

After wrapping things up at their home in Shaughnessy we headed downtown to capture some amazing scenes beforing arriving at the always stunning Four Seasons Hotel for the reception. Christine + Howard capped off their wedding day with a co-ordinated first dance that we extremely well-executed. Great job, guys!

All day we weren’t only shooting but also editing and below is the same-day-edit that we screened for them and their guests at around 9 o’clock in the evening. I hope you enjoy and congratulations again Christine + Howard!

A few months ago we were asked to film the beautiful wedding of Jamie + Kirsten in Toronto at the famed Canon Theatre. Their 1-minute “first look” clip can be seen a few blog posts below this one. From start to finish there was so much emotion in the air that it was palpable and you could really feel the love of their family and friends throughout the evening. For this reason, we decided to use the speeches to help build the structure of their highlights clip.

Now if you’re paying close attention once you start playing the film, you may ask yourself “Kirsten” and “Jamie” don’t rhyme, what gives? Well wait for the payoff towards the end – a fun moment for everyone in attendance! Enjoy the clip!

It’s that time of year again where we post our newest highlight trailer for WedLuxe Magazine! This time we’re not only producing 1 trailer that highlights all of our shoots but instead, over the next few days/weeks, we’ll be rolling out individual clips for each editorial and some amazing wedding trailers for real weddings featured in the latest issue of our printed magazine.

For this issue we were again flying back and forth across the country to bring our editorials photoshoots to life. From our Garden of Eden shoots in both Vancouver and Toronto, to filming in a vintage vault to some amazing studio shoots (including filming Heather Ogden, principal dancer for the national ballet of Canada), I really am so happy to be able to finally share our first trailer with you. The song that you’ll hear is called “Can’t Stop Falling” which was provided for us to use for WedLuxe by Vancouver artist, Laurell. You can find it on iTunes here. I highly recommend downloading this song and taking it with you on-the-go.

Last week we were very fortunate to have attended the Engage 10 conference in Grand Cayman, produced by Rebecca Grinnals and Katherine Arce. We were honored (and surprised) to have them name us as one of the top 10 innovators in the wedding industry, primarily through our work of combining a printed magazine with video content. The full magazine trailer below was first screened last Tuesday at Engage for all of the attendees.

I hope you enjoy the clip and as mentioned, stay tuned for many more clips this week!

~ Bruce

Recently we filmed Natalie & Mathew’s wedding in downtown Vancouver at the beautiful Holy Rosary Cathedral. Although there was a threat of rain leading up to the festivities we managed to avoid all but a few drops and had a really great day with everyone! What I really appreciated about Natalie & Mathew was that they were able to relax and enjoy their wedding day and really be *in the moment* ~ something that can sometimes be hard to do when putting on a party the scale of a wedding. They were so sweet and kept checking in with us all day to see if we were “okay”, but also were able to let go by jumping on a firetruck *it was parked and the firemen let us* and even running and laughing through a busy walkway towards the Seabus. These are the kinds of things that create unique memories on a wedding day and I’m so happy that they had us there to capture them as they unfolded.

Here’s the Same-Day-Edit that we screened at their reception later in the evening.

I first met Kirsten and her family this past March in Toronto just before her wedding and from the second I was welcomed into their home, I knew they were an amazing group. This wedding was like none other and the warmth that they extended towards myself and my team only accentuated all the details and glamor that was to come a few days later when they tied the knot at the amazing Canon Theatre.

I was going through their footage today while preparing their highlights trailer and decided that it might be a good idea to post a short 1-minute “coming soon” clip which is focussed nearly entirely on the intimacy of their first look. There’s much more to see from this wedding, trust me – but for now, a short teaser
